strawberry的由來

自從英文老師教了草莓這個單字, strawberry，就沒有懷疑過為什麼這樣拼，
昨天在電視上看到一個做菜的節目，主題是草莓，
除了特別的食譜之外，也介紹strawberry的由來，
草莓在生長的時候很嬌弱，
除了蟲害之外，如果沾到土就會爛掉，
農夫（大概是美國這邊的吧）為了防止草莓沾到土，
把吸管（straw）放在草莓下面墊高，
所以叫 STRAW-BERRY。

原來如此。

  2. 這個節目叫“Good Eat”，是一個做菜的節目，不過主持人Alton Brown用科學的方法分析食譜，還有介紹食物/食譜的歷史，像是strawberry的由來這種故事，或是用其他行業的工具代替一些華麗不實用的廚房小家電/工具，重點是告訴觀眾“為什麼”，這個中年老男人，實在是太有魅力了！:o)
